Industri sutera alam Indonesia membutuhkan dukungan ketersediaan bibit ulat dan pakan yang unggul. Hasil riset Puslitbang Hutan yaitu bibit ulat sutera PS 01 dan murbei unggul SULI 01 terbukti menghasilkan kokon yang lebih banyak dan lebih baik daripada bibit impor. Laboratorium juga akan menunjang fungsi pemeliharaan parent stock sebagai indukan penghasil telur dari beragam varietas. Koleksi ini penting dipelihara dalam bangunan yang dilengkapi sarpras yang memadai dan memenuhi standar. Selain bangunan Laboratorium Utama, terdapat Galeri dan Ruang Seminar yang akan mendukung fungsi Laboratorium dalam mengenalkan kekayaan sutera alam Indonesia

CIBT has current capacity out of 6 million tpy , it can even be increased up to 12 million tpy . 2000 tph of loading capacity , with 450,000 tons storage capacity of T erminal that has cranes facilities, conveyor , and warehouses, that use Programmable Logic Control Systems (PLC).
